In this powerful scripture, Moses addresses the people of Israel, presenting them with a crucial choice: life and death, blessings and curses. He calls upon heaven and earth to witness their decision. With heartfelt urgency, Moses urges them to choose life—so that they and their families can live and embrace the abundant blessings God has prepared for them. Moses and God can’t make the choice for them; the people of Israel must make it themselves. I love this scripture because it reminds us that God has given us the power to make choices. Choices come with consequences, and we need to ask God to help us make the right choices. God has given us the same choices as he gave the Israelites: life and blessings, or death and curses. Which one would you choose?
